Where did everybody go?

Hope you are enjoying the snow. Having just returned from California, the cold and slipperyness is a bit of an adjustment, but it looks pretty from my apartment window, at least!

Where do the authentically "new to Oslo" people congregate?

Many of those posting here seem to be long-time Oslo residents. It took me over a year-and-a-half of living here before I discovered NTO, but my instinct today, if entering a new city, is to search Facebook for a real-world social community, and Linked-In and other sources for professional networking. That said, I was really satisfied in having discovered NTO :)

One benefit that I perceive of the NTO forum is actually having a porous layer of privacy between my activity on Facebook and NTO. NTO is sort of a place where an unsolicited MySpace "buddy" and a Linked-In contact could peacefully coexist in my relationship consciousness. That, of course and the fact that one has the opportunity to meet up at the monthly pub night.

Not dead yet.

Sure seems that way. Maybe in hibernation is a more appropriate term.

The site got a bit of interest at the start, but has really gotten quiet lately.

The "guide" part of the site is a total dead end, it never really took off. On reflection I think it should rather be a more open wiki style page and will look into changing the format when time allows.

I will change the ad page back now as well - At least I was able to sell my ironing board ;)

Dean.
